About epilation (past, present and future)
Since ancient times the woman wanted to separate from her body hair; for that there were created various methods (even some invented by men).
Of all the methods destined to leave our skin soft, delicate and free of the masculinized body hair, in modern times have been kept in use: waxing - that along with the hair removes a part of your soul (!), the razor blade(unisex!) , hair removal cream and something more technical, but still barbaric - the electrical epilator!
Waxing - the most popular method - is extremely known for the acute pain caused during the removal of wax stripes together with pieces of hair. The danger of infections occurs if the wax isn"t for unique use, the skin looks good for only a week, because after 7 days (for the lucky ones) the hair starts to pierce the skin, in many cases it grows under the skin, generating both an ugly aspect of the skin and the famous folliculitis - the inflammation of a hair follicle.
Shaving with a razor blade is a fast method- the skin looks good for just a few hours, afterwards it becomes spiky and the procedure must be repeated. Women with long legs - our and all men"s dream! - spend a whole hour doing this during the day time shower - and that"s in winter because in summer the growing speed is faster.
Depilatory cream cuts off the hair to the skin level; the results are a bit more lasting than shaving, because it contains substances (irritating for the skin!) that slow down hair growth. It takes some time - the cream has to act for 20 minutes - and it can be done only near a source of water, most times in the shower.
Ultimately - the electric epilator! Ouch! Painfully shattering… You water your eyes instantaneous. You can"t use it in delicate areas like axilla or the bikini line! Do I still have to tell you why?
It has the same disadvantages as waxing - hair grows quite fast, maybe even under the skin; the advantage is that it"s self-serviced and it doesn"t involve getting an appointment to the cosmetician, a trip to the beauty saloon (the tip included …) etc.
It is certain that bearing pain is in our genetic code - at birth and during hair removal! This is the reason why we have more courage than our boyfriends and husbands, but the time has arrived not to harm ourselves anymore wishing to become more beautiful and womanly. The time has arrived to give up the temporary methods that solved the unwanted hair problem and that took us hours every month or even every day! The time has arrived for a permanent hair removal!
At the beginning there was electrolysis! Through it the hair root was destroyed with the help of a needle through which electric current was passing. The needle was applicated through multiple attempts - on the root of every visible piece of hair. The method is highly invasive - we remind you: the needle penetrates the skin - and has a high degree of infection risk and subsequent scars (there are well known cases, some occurring unfortunately in highly exposed areas like the chin …); it is also a big time spender. One leg (but we have two, isn"t that so?) is being treated (rather maltreated…) in approximately 8 hours.

Afterwards another procedure was developed- the laser permanent epilation - that uses light energy to destroy the hair roots. This method is especially useful to men, who have hair follicles implanted at a bigger depth, or to the women with white skin and dark hair (Snow White"s type). The reason is in the laser technology itself - high power that aims with one wavelength! Laser hair removal is highly painful - it requires local anesthesia. Using a high energy power has high reddening or even skin burning risk- and further comes a hypo or hyperpigmentated scar risk.
The last and most elegant solution developed to accomplish the secret dream of most women - not to stress themselves because of the disagreeable pieces of hair - is permanent hair removal using Intense Pulsed Light, the newest and most efficient permanent hair removal method.
The last and most elegant solution developed to accomplish the secret dream of most women - not to stress themselves because of the disagreeable pieces of hair - is permanent hair removal using Intense Pulsed Light, the newest and most efficient permanent hair removal method.
The founding principle of this method, realized with Intense Pulsed Light, is that of selective photothermolysis. What"s that? Well, it"s similar to the laser hair removal one - being a light based technology too - but is a special light, with less energy than the laser"s. The major advantage is the wide spectrum of the luminous wavelength, which makes possible permanent epilation with zero infection risk, little time of treatment and visible results from the first session. This offers the solution of a noninvasive and pain free procedure, which doesn"t require anesthesia or recuperation time and works for the entire range of areas with unwanted hair problems - face, neck, axilla, arms, back, legs, bikini line etc. Its unique features allow an efficient treatment for most hair colors - from brown and dark to blond hair, and also for every type of hair texture - from delicate to hard hair, combined with the majority of skin types - from Scandinavian white to Mediterranean caramel.
Starting the IPL hair removal treatment imposes caution in sun exposure of the area to be treated - you can use sun creams with a high protection factor, but you do this only for a month before the session! The sacrifice is not big at all! Otherwise, if I want to apply therapeutic light on a tanned skin, I have to use energy so little that the treatment wouldn"t be efficient. Also, the persons who are under medical treatment and use certain photosensitive products must declare this, so that specialists who perform the procedure would adopt some measures.
Permanent epilation using Intense Pulsed Light is carried out during several sessions. The reason is physiological and depends on the body construction: the hair grows in phases that succeed each other in a growing cycle and a certain period of time must pass until a number of hairs get in the debut growing stage. This is when we can intervene and it happens several times for the face and body and less times on the legs. Individual variables make it impossible to fix a certain number of treatment sessions needed to finish the procedure and to achieve the wanted permanent hair removal. We must say that IPL hair removal is permanent in the non-androgenic areas; you don"t have to be repeat it in 4, 5 or 10 years! Once you have destroyed the hair roots, that"s it!
Goodbye wax, razor blade, depilation cream or electric hair removal!
