What is permanent epilation?
It"s the permanent removal of hair follicles in a maximal percentage of 95%.

What is Intense Pulsed Light?
  1. Light: the white light, visible for the human eye, constituted by many colors (the rainbow)
  2. Intense: the light carries a high energy
  3. Pulsed: it is generated in pulses (on/off)
How does it work?
The Intense Pulsed Light aims accurately without damaging the skin; it rises the hair temperature and the heat is conducted to the follicle. That causes the elimination of the hair follicle"s generating cells, responsible of its growth. The damaged follicle becomes unable to produce other hairs and it is later eliminated gradually trough a natural process: in time it disappears and it is replaced by nonfunctional tissue.

What is selective photothermolysis?
It is not a special technology or a particular proceeding. It is only the principle that allows both laser and IPL to perform their therapeutic action on the hair root.

This consists in 3 steps:
1. light absorption (photo) in the pigment - represented by the hair"s melanin
2. the heat engendering (thermo)
3. the removal (lysis) of the targeted cells through high temperature

Any permanent epilation system that uses IPL has these features?
No, they very much vary from a producer to another.
The power of the energy generating lamp is a very important element. So is the selected intensity of the energy fascicle focalized on the area to be treated; there should be a balance between the higher intensity that can be tolerated and that needed for the treatment, between care and efficiency, so that all round about tissues (skin and blood vessels) would be protected. The light fascicle dimension should be medium, otherwise its intensity diminishes and so its efficiency.
That"s why it is not recommended to use a permanent hair removal treatment on a tanned skin - because melanin absorbs an important part of the light energy it is necessary to reduce the energy"s intensity and power to a level where it no longer works.

What are the advantages of your clinic"s treatment system?
  • It is both efficient - it removes hairs roots - and safe - it protects the skin and round about tissues
  • The technology included in this device is safe - the wave lengths dangerous for the skin are eliminated trough a cut-off filter
  • Visible results from the first sessions
  • Very short treatment time (e.g. 7-8 minutes for an axilla)
  • It can treat any pigmented hair type
  • It works on the majority of skin types - from Scandinavian white (porcelain) to Mediterranean caramel (from Fitzpatrick 1 to 5 types)
  • It treats any body area - face, axilla, bikini line, legs, back, shoulders - no matter how spread or how delicate it is (it works even on buttocks or nipples)
  • No recovery time - the treatment can be performed during the lunch break and the patient can return to his daily activities
  • No anesthesia needed.
  • No infection risk
  • The hair never grows back in non-androgenic areas; the epilation is permanent - a 10 year experience proved this

  • What are the disadvantages of your clinic"s treatment system?
  • White hair can"t be treated
  • Sun exposed skin can"t be treated, unless it has been protected 4 weeks before the treatment - otherwise there is a high burning risk
  • To some sensitive skin persons there could appear a slightly and temporarily rash - the skin comes to normal in 10 minutes to a few hours

  • Any kind of hair type can be treated?
Yes, the sessions are personalized according to the color, the texture and the place of hairs. Any type of hair that contains at least a small amount of pigment can be treated. Of course, white hair is an exception.

This proceeding really removes hair forever? Its results are really permanent?
Yes. Scientific studies show that the use of focalized light energy destroys the hair follicles down to a cellular level. A permanent hair reduction usually appears after each session performed on non-androgenic areas.

The scientific official statement presented by the general secretary of the European Dermatologic Association, Dr. Moshe Lapidoth, at EADV, the Association"s Annual Congress, confirmed that permanent epilation can be declared as definitive on non-androgenic areas.

How long does a session last? How many will I need?
The sessions can be a few minutes up to almost an hour long, depending on the surface to be treated.
The number of necessary sessions depends on several elements: the skin"s color and type, the hairs density and thickness etc.
In order that the clearance degree approaches to its maximum multiple sessions are needed.
Also their number varies according to the body area treated. During the free consultation offered before any treatment begins you will get an evaluation regarding the recommended number of sessions that varies according to the body areas you wish to treat, the skin and hair pigment type and the pilosity degree.
Each person is unique and that"s why a correct scientific approach would be not to generalize the number of sessions needed to finalize the treatment.

How long is the time period between sessions?
The following sessions are scheduled when the hair starts to grow back. Depending on the hair type and the treated area this period can vary between 4 and 12 weeks. Usually the sessions are separated by 6 to 8 weeks.

What do I feel during the treatment?
Most people are very comfortable during our sessions. The minimal annoyance you can experience is often described as a slightly tickle or itch, similar to that produced by an elastic rubber band.

    Are there any side effects?
The way that the treated surface looks right after the treatment varies from a person to another, depending on the proceeding amplitude and the skin type. The side effects - if they even occur - are usually minimal. There can be a slightly rash near the hair follicles - this actually shows that the area responded to the treatment. The reaction usually disappears in a few hours. The patients can return right away to their daily activities. The side effects are rare and generally well tolerated. Any possible side effect will be explained in detail by our specialist during the first consultation and after that anytime necessary.

What is the difference between this proceeding and the conventional ones?
The system"s parameters are selected by the specialist according to each person"s skin and hair color and hair density. This is a major advantage that allows us to personalize the treatment considering your unique characteristics and the hair follicles attributes.
